Canada Day Blog Hop!

Once again, I'm participating in the Canada Day Blog Hop
with a BIG thanks to Carmel @rabidreads.ca, Aislynn@stitchreadcook.com
and Chrystal @snowdropdreams.ca for hosting this hop!


Because we're celebrating our wonderful and strange home, CANADA, the theme of this Hop and giveaway is, of course -Canada.

I've decided to keep things simple this year. 

I'll be giving away This is Not a Test by Courtney Summers. 

I just read this book last week and since it's my favourite YA book written by a Canadian author I've read so far this year. 

Here's the synopsis:

It’s the end of the world. Six students have taken cover in Cortege High but shelter is little comfort when the dead outside won’t stop pounding on the doors. One bite is all it takes to kill a person and bring them back as a monstrous version of their former self.


To Sloane Price, that doesn’t sound so bad. Six months ago, her world collapsed and since then, she’s failed to find a reason to keep going. Now seems like the perfect time to give up. As Sloane eagerly waits for the barricades to fall, she’s forced to witness the apocalypse through the eyes of five people who actually want to live.

But as the days crawl by, the motivations for survival change in startling ways and soon the group’s fate is determined less and less by what’s happening outside and more and more by the unpredictable and violent bids for life—and death—inside. 

When everything is gone, what do you hold on to?

I'll be posting the review for This is Not a Test early next week, but I can already tell you that it's a crazy balance of heart-stopping zombie attacks and heart-breaking personal tragedy. This was a can't-put-it-down kind of read that I want to share with everyone. 

Because I'll be mailing this book myself (with possible a little extra YA swag tossed in) I'll be limiting this giveaway to Canada/US for postage $$$ reasons.

    1. Thanks for stopping by. I can't bring myself to watch The Walking Dead. I'm terrified of Zombies and after watching the first episode I was awake for 3hrs checking outside fro roaming zombie hordes.

    I did not realize till this how many of my fav authors were Canadian! Kelly Armstrong, Dani Harper, Lynsay Sands to name a few.

    1. I've always loved LM Montgomery too. I think I have everything she's ever written. If you've never read her journals I'd recommend them, they are really interesting.

  24. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any Canadian authors that I've read, but there has to be at least one. As far as the ones I'd love to read, Moira Young, Kathleen Peacock, Michelle Rowen, Courtney Summers, and Kelley Armstrong are all authors that I've heard wonderful things about their books.

  38. My favorite YA Canadian Author is probably R.J. Anderson, I would say Kelley Armstrong, but even though I enjoy her YA series, I LOVE her adult series, and therefore consider her and adult author..lol.

  39. Thanks so much for this giveaway! My favorite YA author who is also Canadian is Courtney Summers. Her YA contemporaries are so intense, and I love how they're both real and kind 0of frightening. I can't wait to finally read her new book This is Not a Test.
